Nestled in the busy Sukhumvit district of Bangkok lies the Volve Hotel, a beautiful boutique hotel that pretty much stole my heart.
Although located in one of the busiest districts in Bangkok there is surprisingly no hum drum of the City that can be seen or heard. Just a few cars driving along leisurely every now and then. The district is also home to a plethora of restaurants which range from Michelin Starred to the ones mant for the budget traveller. With such a myriad of choices one cannot go wrong.
The Thong Lo BTS station is just a couple of minutes away on foot and it provides connectivity options to go to pretty much wherever you’d like to go in the city. The hotel also arranges airport transfers and other cabs on request so one can’t go wrong.
The interiors are beautifully curated, and it shows in how the place has come together. The woodwork in the dining area, the collages on the walls, the floor signs, the books and the floor itself. All lovingly created, selected and placed echo the youthful energy of the young minds that came to put this place together. They couldn’t have done better ! (Oh did I mention that it’s made from responsibly sourced sustainable materials !)
The menus are thoughtfully planned and it shows in in the way they’re presented – simple and elegant. They have a lovely breakfast spread and we treated ourselves to these delights more than once.
They also have an adjoining cafe called Herringbone which in itself is a culinary journey that charts continents with their ‘explorations’ menu. Also – do give the Banana Flower Fritters and try, you will thank me later.
The rooms are spacious and thoughtfully planned. Cosy beds, a stocked minibar, study area, sitting area and a well appointed bathroom make it extremely comfortable to live in – and VERY difficult to leave !!
The hotel also features a rooftop garden which is something of a rarity these days. The best times to visit are in the mornings and evening when its cooler and more breezy. you will be treated to some lovely views from above. The garden is also home to herbs an fruit bearing trees, the produce is utilised in various dishes in the hotel kitchen.
The staff is always welcoming with a warm smile on their faces and are very accommodating with requests. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at ThE Volve Hotel – and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is passing by Bangkok.
Be Ordinary !
